Railroad Museum [for a day] is hosted by the United Railroad Historical Society of New Jersey, owners of the largest and most historic railroad collection in New Jersey. During this once-a-year event, the URHS Restoration Facility in Boonton, NJ will become New Jersey's largest railroad museum. Railroad Museum [for a day] provides a rare, family-friendly opportunity to admire, explore, and go inside of our historic trains and learn about their connection to the region we live in. Food trucks, live music, children's programs, and tours make for a day that the whole family can enjoy!

Earn a Special Railroad Patch
Scouts will experience New Jersey railroad history while exploring New Jersey's largest railroad event. Those who complete all of the requirements (which will be available on-site) will receive a special edition commemorative caboose patch (pictured here).
Participating Scouts will need $5.00 for their event admission fee and closed-toe shoes to safely explore the rail equipment. This is open to any and all Scouts that attend the event!
Earn Your Railroading Merit Badge
A special class, limited to just 15 Scouts, will be held by Railroad Merit Badge counselors at the Museum [for a day] event from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Scouts will learn about railroad safety, interview real railroaders, experience New Jersey railroad history, and earn Railroading Merit Badge in just one day!
Participating Scouts will need $5.00 for their event admission fee and closed-toe shoes to safely explore the rail equipment. Slots are limited to 15 Scouts and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please contact Ed Kohler at Ed@TriStateRail.org with your name, troop number, rank, email address, and phone number to sign up!
Event parking is available at the Upper Plane Street municipal lot (Click here for directions). This lot is located directly adjacent to the Boonton Day street fair on Main Street, and a free shuttle bus will be available to take you to Museum [for a day].
